New Report Evaluates Leading SOA Management Vendors, Finds Market Primed For Growth

Feb 15, 2005 11:45 ET

SAN FRANCISCO, California, February 15/PRNewswire/ -- Loosely Coupled, the leading specialist website for early adopters of enterprise service-oriented architecture (SOA), today issued its SOA Management 2005 Report, the technology industry's first report to evaluate in detail all of the leading vendors of web services management software.

With fewer than 80 significant projects in production worldwide and a total market value below $60 million last year, SOA management has excited far more hype than solid adoption. But with one third of those projects at Fortune 500 companies and market value expected to rocket this year towards $200 million, perhaps the excitement is justified after all.

The report provides detailed evaluations of 14 SOA management vendors and ranks them into four groups: Leaders, Challengers, Heavyweights, Noteworthy. Ranking criteria include product functionality, future technology roadmap, current customer deployments and business strategy.

Highlights of the 40-page report, available for purchase online at www.looselycoupled.com for $145, include:

  • Why Amberpoint, Actional, Digital Evolution and Oblix are today's SOA management leaders
  • Which of the heavyweight players - BEA, CA, HP, Microsoft and IBM - are best placed to shake up the market in 2005 and why
  • Emerging trends to watch, such as stronger focus on policy management, and registry as a tool for SOA governance
  • Predictions for mergers, acquisitions, and possible failures in 2005 -- and what this means for customers now

"Enterprises looking to deploy SOA management products have a perplexing landscape to navigate," said Phil Wainewright, lead analyst, Loosely Coupled. "With pure-plays battling some of the largest names in IT, marketing hyperbole and technology misinformation are rampant. Loosely Coupled saw a pressing need for a report that seeks out the leading vendors and determines the most important factors for enterprises to consider when choosing an SOA management vendor."

Subscriptions to the Loosely Coupled monthly digest, whose February issue summarizes the report findings, are currently available with the report at a special price of $295.
